Flutters and Flails

I"m a girl who likes to read and tell - so I do :)  Make sure you check out my blog - and if you want to follow it, that would be awesome!  http://fluttersandflails.blogspot.com/

Sins & Needles (The Artists Trilogy)

Sins & Needles - Karina Halle I need to think about this one for a bit --

Beneath the Surface (Reluctance Series 1)

Beneath the Surface - M.A. Stacie Loved this one -- full review to come

The Art of Love

The Art of Love - Anne Whitney I loved the potential of the characters...but the rest didn't grab me like I had hoped it would.Oh well.

Plus One

Plus One - Brighton Walsh Fun and flirty and unffy and can I have Ian please? From the moment I turned on my Kindle until the very last word, I couldn’t put it down. It was as amazing as I knew it would be.I am a sucker for a “friends becoming more” story and Plus One does not disappoint. The banter, the flirty-ness, the UNF, the sexy times…they were exactly what I look for in a story. Olivia is smart and sassy with a backbone and Ian…sweet lord, he is delish! Ms. Walsh weaves their story in a way that is fluid and entertaining and an extremely enjoyable read.

The Testing

The Testing - Joelle Charbonneau 4.5 Stars. Expected publication: June 2013It is no small secret that I am a bit of a dystopian junkie, so when I had the chance to read a galley of The Testing from Netgalley, I jumped all over it. The first book in a new trilogy, a strong female main character, did I mention it was dystopian? GIMME.I was not disappointed.Cia Vale has spent her entire life dreaming about being selected to attend University after graduation. The world is rebuilding after the Seven Stages War and the University is where the brightest and best go to become leaders. Growing up in the Five Lakes, Cia is more than aware of the fact that there hadn't been a candidate chosen from her sector in many many years, and when the graduation ceremony finishes just as it has in previous years, it looks as though nothing had changed.Until it does. Cia and three other new Five Lakes graduates are selected and they are given 24 hours to pack and say goodbye to their families.I know, I know...this sounds sooooo much like The Hunger Games. In fact, for the first little bit, that was all I could think of. Cia = Katniss. I kept waiting for her to bust out the bow and arrow...and while there IS a crossbow involved, it doesn't belong to Cia. As I continued to read, I found myself focusing more on the story itself rather than the similarities. I was completely drawn in and The Testing began to stand solidly on its own. It is no surprise that Cia is a smart smart girl, yet she is not perfect. The Testing is difficult physically, mentally, emotionally - and what I particularly liked about this story is that the author doesn't make Cia immune to the challenge. She struggles. She doubts. She questions everything - both what she encounters with each new day and what she thought she already knew. Her character is believable. Especially knowing that she has a weakness for dimples and a crooked smile. Hello, Tomas!Being the first book in a trilogy, The Testing ends in a bit of a cliffie - yet it wasn't so dramatic that I wanted to throw things and scream about the wait. It was in the right place...there was enough closure to keep make me feel like the book was over yet enough left out there that I am anxiously awaiting the next installment. Well done, Ms. Charbonneau. You passed the test. (I know, I know...I couldn't resist!)

Along Came Trouble: A Loveswept Contemporary Romance

Along Came Trouble - Ruthie Knox I really really enjoyed this book. The UST, the sweet/funny/witty/insert adjective here banter between Ellen and Caleb, the swoony moments between Caleb and Henry...I don't know...I'm thinking this may be my favorite Ruthie Knox book yet.

True

True - Erin McCarthy 3.5 starsI was pleasantly surprised by this book -- I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but I really enjoyed it. (I would have enjoyed it more had there been more piercing, but maybe that's just me...)Anyhoo...I connected on so many levels with Rory. The girl filled with self-doubt and social awkwardness. THAT WAS ME. Still is most days. I wanted to pat her 20 year old head and tell her that she'd find her place and that she'd figure things out...gah. I'm having flashbacks just remembering those days. And then there is Tyler. A little rough around the edges with his ink and his piercing (THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE ABOUT THE PIERCING) but he has a library card and he loves his brothers and he loves to read and he reads Harry Potter to his brother. They seem absolute opposites, but I love them together.True is a quick and enjoyable read that makes me want to check out other works by Ms. McCarthy.

Dare You To

Dare You To - Katie McGarry **Thanks to Netgalley for the chance to read this book**I have to admit, I was scared to read this book because I loved the first in the series so much.Silly me :)While it did take me a while to warm up to Beth and Ryan, I eventually grew to love them both. Individually and together. And I want to smack her mother. Repeatedly. Hot boy + smartass girl + emotional storylines = best combo ever.If you trust my taste in books, you will add this one to your to-read list now. Do it!

Hopeless (Hopeless, #1)

Hopeless - Colleen Hoover Favorite.Forever.

Private Practice

Private Practice - Samanthe Beck Cute and silly and yummy -- great vacation read! This book surprised me a little bit. Yes it has the familiar romance composition of bad boy and good girl, but there was something a bit more. Tyler Longfoot was the “bad boy” back when Ellie Swan was in high school, the love ‘em and leave ‘em type with a different girl on his arm every other day. Ellie was the bookworm smart girl determined to make something of herself. When she returns to her hometown she decides Tyler is the perfect person to help her revamp her image and become the sex kitten she is convinced she needs to be. Things aren’t always what they seem though, and Ellie’s desperation to disprove her high school reputation blinds her to the fact that maybe Tyler has done a little changing of his own.It isn’t a big secret that I love a bad boy, but there is a difference between being a “bad boy” and being an ass. Can I say that here? Anyway, as the story develops, we see that Tyler has many different layers and definitely knows the difference. Sure he still has a mischievous side, but there is also a side that is warm and giving, hidden though it may be by his past. I found myself pulling for him throughout the story and wanting him to…nope, no spoilers here.Private Practice is a quick and entertaining read that left me wanting to read more by Samanthe Beck.

Me Before You

Me Before You - Jojo Moyes All the tears. All the feels.ALL THE STARS. Will Traynor will forever own a little piece of my heart.

Eleanor & Park

Eleanor & Park - Rainbow Rowell LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVEAnd I want Park to live in my pocket forever.

Painted Faces

Painted Faces - L.H. Cosway Loved loved loved this story. Loved The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars was the writing style. The emotions of the story deserved better. While it accentuated Fred's personality with its tangents and ramblings, it did a disservice to the depth of the rest of the story. Still. I loved it and have the end of book blues because it is over.

Ashen Winter (Ashfall (Trilogy - Hardcover))

Ashen Winter - Mike Mullin I need the next book NOW!

Covert Seduction

Covert Seduction - Callie Croix 3.5 stars rounding up to 4.A quick read that was...ahem...entertaining and was exactly what I was looking for. I mean, the dude is a SEAL. Hello.

Lush (Delicious Novel Series #2)

Lush - Lauren Dane Meh. It was okay -- but I wish I could have read it without the formatting issues
